Presidents Report

Hello from Bristow, Oklahoma.

I hope this letter finds everyone doing well and avoiding the heat as best as possible. As I write this report, we are currently gearing up for the upcoming trapping season, while attempting to take advantage of both good fishing weather and the September dove and teal seasons. The F.T.O Fall meeting will have already taken place by the time you receive this report.
Remember the new changes in regulations that will take effect November 1, 2014 for the upcoming season:

We would also like to thank Mr. Jeb Hollingshead and sons for bringing their company, Okie Cable & Trap Supply to the spring meeting as vendors. And thanks Jeb for the input and advice you gave as well.

As the fall meeting has not yet taken place, I do not know who all we owe thanks to, so for those unlisted, I will most definitely thanks them in the next issue of the Trappers Post. However, we do owe thanks to Okie Cable & Trap Supply for vending at the fall meeting and supplying our trapping needs. You can thank them yourself by showing the Oklahoma based company your support by giving Jeb and the boys a call with your orders and requirements at 918-429-4648 or visit them on their website at

We would also like to thank AJ’s Gun & Pawn in Bristow, OK for their support of the F.T.O. by providing the firearms “at cost” to the F.T.O. for the raffle that is taking place. If you need raffle tickets, which are $10 per chance, please contact a Board Member to order them. The two firearms that are being raffled this year are as follows:

1. Chiappa Double Badger (over & under) .22 /410
2. Savage Model 93 .17HMR (Scoped)

The F.T.O. will host a single fur auction in for the upcoming season which will be on March 7, 2015 located at the Okmulgee County Fairgrounds. So please keep that date in mind.

The F.T.O. 1st Annual Coyote Challenge this year. The prize will be presented at the spring 2015 Meeting. This is a team event at a cost of $100 per team to enter. All teams must sell their coyotes at the 2015 Fur Auction in order to be counted. Team entries must be received and paid for before the opening of the Fur Bearing Season, which is December 1, 2014. More information, rules and entry forms can be downloaded from the F.T.O. website on this page: . I myself will be participating in this event, which will run from December 1, 2014 through February 28, 2015. All legally trapped coyotes during this period will be counted as they are sold at the fur auction, providing they meet the criteria in the rules of the contest.

In closing … remember to take a kid or twelve out hunting, fishing or trapping with you when you go … the activity could literally have a positive effect on their lives and how they grow up. Be safe, and we’ll see you at the 2nd Annual Fur Auction in Okmulgee, OK.
